The Institution, located in NYC, integrates a School, an Arts & Culture Program, and a Research Center.

Through movement people communicate a wide range of things: joy, vulnerability, fear, confidence

When you smile, dance, gesture, change your posture, your movement  has meaning, and your movement is read, even if unconsciously.

But if one is to make sense of movement, as with any other language, one must have a way to observe and understand it.

Rudolf Laban, the greatest movement theorist of the 20th Century, established a system to access, explore, notate and understand movement. This system was further developed by Irmgard Bartenieff, giving birth to Laban Movement Analysis – LMA.

LIMS® is the organization that, for the past 29 years, has been devoted to preserve, develop and disseminate LMA to people from all walks of life, while instructing professionals to become Certified Movement Analysts - CMA.
