Applied Laban In Communication
Rudolf Laban used his understanding of movement in theater and dance, but also in factories, business and everyday communication.
Your own patterns of Effort and Shape preferences and your Integrated Movements, have supported your choices and decisions up until now. Experiencing and articulating these movements willgive you greater support in your future choices.
Start with two one-day sessions. Day one covers understanding and applying Integrated Movement, Posture and Gesture. Continue the next day exploring the Decision-Making framework of the Action Profile® System and your personal use of it. Each can be taken as a separate workshop.
An individual Action Profile® Analysiscan be scheduled around your availability. If you choose to continue to gain expertise, a three-day introductory workshop in the Action Profiling System will be scheduled later this year.
Session 1: Elegant and Integrated
Using Integrated Movement
Refine the understanding of Posture, Gesture and Integrated Movement so that you can call on the best one for the specific moment. See how Integrated Movement can open your perception in communication, sports and art. Observe it in your self and in others.
Date: To be rescheduled
Time: 10 am – 4 pm (1-hour lunch break)
Location: SITI Company Studios, New York City
Instructors: Ellen Goldman and Kevin McGarrigle-Schlosser
Tution: $150.00
Session 2: The Decision Process Demystified
Decision Framework: Details of Attending Intending, Committing
Rudolf Laban introduced three stages in the Decision Process. Warren Lamb and Pamela Ramsden continued to define the subdivisions of Effort (Assertion) and Shaping (Perspective). These concepts lead to understanding the thought processes that underlie the movement and how to relate them to decision-making.
By understanding the way we organize our thoughts into action, we can facilitate discussions, meetings, and our own personal actions. For example, we can know when prioritizing is more valuable than exploring or when holding firm is more valuable than easing off a problem. This day will introduce the concepts, so you can continue discovering ways to apply your movement knowledge to your individual choices and actions.
Date: To be rescheduled
Time: 10 am – 4 pm (1-hour lunch break)

History
The Action Profiling Method, as it is used today, has a long history beginning with the work of Rudolf Laban (1879-1957). His interest in human movement, dance, theatre, work and life in general led him to pioneer the development of systems for analyzing and notating human movement. The method was further developed by Rudolf Laban and Warren Lamb together, as they assessed movement in factories to enhance worker satisfaction, health and productivity. Warren Lamb later created a Framework of Decision-Making which allowed him to assess managers and executive teams. Today, Action Profiling is used throughout the world in selection, team building, career development and in personal growth.
What is an Action Profile® Analysis?
Everyone functions within their own unique pattern when making decisions and taking action. By providing insight into your core tendencies, an Action Profile can help you harness your innate strengths to maximize your potential.
Through body movement analysis, we are able to correlate specific movements to inherent tendencies in decision making. The result is an Action Profile – a detailed description of how a person thinks through making decisions, takes action, and interacts with others. Beyond analysis, individuals learn how to leverage their Action Profile to capitalize on their potential.
When applied across a team, Action Profile Analysis can foster collaboration and offer a map for developing powerful synergies. When engaged at an organizational level, it can improve corporate productivity.
The main areas of application in business are:
-Personal, team, and leadership development
-Hiring and change management
-Sales and communication
-Organizational alignment and global integration
