Salugen, Inc.
Salugen, Inc., founded in April 2005,[6] Dietary supplements and direct-to-consumer genetic testing (DTC) is a relatively modern business model that was somewhat limited at the time. [7] In June 2008, the California Department of Health and Human Services issued cease and desist letters.Jailed by 13 genetic engineering companies, including Salugen, for improper provision of DTC tests.< sup >[8][9][10] Salugen , on the other hand, has been ordered to test Californians until it obtains a clinical science laboratory license. in California, and simply to perform approved tests ordered by a competent physician.[8] On September 10, 2008, other Salugen executives reconciled as CEO of Meshkin, citing the company’s inability to “improve capital and increase operational efficiency and he could reward employees and suppliers” under your ex-boyfriend.[11] Shortly thereafter, Salugen was acquired by Sherbrooke Equity AG. Despite further capital increases on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Salugen was dissolved the following year. .
Life Sciences Prove
Meshkin founded Proove Biosciences in December 2009.[2] Proove Biosciences sponsored the Proove Opioid Risk Test (POR) for people who could predict with high accuracy which patients would become addicted. help yourself or be meanuse prescription opioid painkillers. Other Proove products in Proove include Pain Perception, Proove Opioid Response and Proove Drug Metabolism.[12]
Proove Bioscience’s business model was to create new conflicts of interest. Proove Biosciences was able to conduct research programs outside of hospital clinics. In fact, more than 90% of the patients tested were directly enrolled in Proove’s clinical trials.[12] Proove offered to pay physicians for each patient included in these trials. This arrangement could give physicians a financial incentive to attract patrons to the research program, thereby favoring Proove Biosciences by reimbursing these patients. and physicians expressed doubts about the quality of the specific evidence supporting the ROP. The old [12][14][15] [16] says Meshkin, who is not scientific training, argued , which controls the company’s research program: “It used to be marketing. It wasn’t science.” [14]
In May 2017, a whistleblower complaint against Proove Biosciences filed in 2015 by a former employeeBruce Gardner, has been disclosed.[17] The complaint, alleging that Proove had alleged Medicare claims, was filed in violation of the False Claims Act and the US Kickback Act. The lawsuit alleges that Prove is accused of medically unnecessary ancestry testing and is involved in a high-profile kickback scheme with doctors.[17]

On August 31, 2017, it became known that Meshkin was initially no longer the CEO of Proove Biosciences.[19] On August 4, 2020, numerous VPs of Market Development joined Proove, and Donald took their place Joseph Matthews. disloyalty in federal court for conspiring to reimburse physicians for hereditary testing for Medicare recipients under the Anti-Kickback Act.[20]
Federal Prosecution
In June 2021, a major federationA court indicted Meshkin, the former CEO and founder of Proove Biosciences Inc., and several executives of Genetic Test Robust, headquartered in Irvine, California. [21]
Federal Attorney’s Office alleges his scam began in 2013. He and other executives paid doctors $100 to $150 in bribes to force them to order genetic tests from a commercial company, prosecutors said.
Proove Biosciences sold genetic data designed to independently determine a patient’s predisposition to severe dependence on opioid pain medications. The inspections focused on investigating that genetics control addiction. As dependence on opioids has been on the rise for years, doctors and pain clinics have used tests to detect them, saying high-risk patients should seek alternative treatments.
Back in 2016, the medical information website Stat News reported doubts about the effectiveness of the tests. A statistical study by Proove showed thatthe biological sciences attract physicians for more than $144,000 a year for “research costs”. According to the Los Angeles Times, in 2017 federal agents raided offices in California.
In the indictment, the relevant prosecutors wrote that Meshkin and others tried to hide market kickbacks to physicians by calling these funds “clinical research fees.”
During Meshkin’s time, bribes were cut to allow doctors to order more tests, the companies write. In other cases, they wrote, nutritionists refused orders until they received the money.
Prosecution writes that Proove Biosciences has filed a Medicare lawsuit for about $45 million over kickback-related genetic testing. Medicare paid out about $20 trillion to the company between 2013 and 2017. In return, the company paid doctors at least $3.5 million, prosecutors wrote.
