The Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies-LIMS® now offers Bartenieff, an innovative Instructor Certification Program. Bartenieff is an experiential approach to somatic movement education focusing on achieving robust 3-D movement in space, the Bartenieff Fundamentals movement sequences and the role of the instructor as an expert observer of movement patterning.  In this in-depth program students will learn the basic principles of and experience the transformative power of Bartenieff, developed by Physical Therapist Irmgard Bartenieff (1900-1981). Applying Bartenieff to one’s field of application provides a global perspective not found in other approaches to movement training.

All instructors in the Bartenieff program are LIMS® Certified Movement Analysts. As a professional and academic community CMAs teach in hundreds of college and university dance and athletics programs, fitness settings and physical rehabilitation practices world-wide, and many are prolifically published within the health and fitness realm. The system has been rigorously developed by Bartenieff-trained professionals since 1978, and until now exclusively taught within LIMS® Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies.

The landmark Bartenieff Instructor Certification Program beginning in October 2008 will be taught in an intensive monthly weekend format through June 2009 in New York City. A supervisory period will follow the classroom portion of this course for students wishing to teach.
