The Yearlong format is ideal for students wishing to immerse themselves in the Laban and Bartenieff material in a full-time program. You will acquire a clear, comprehensive movement language that can be applied to a multitude of disciplines, sharpen your observation skills, enrich your research practices, and develop techniques for enhancing movement efficiency and expressivity. The structure of the program is well suited to students living in or commuting to New York City. Note also that the Laban/Bartenieff Institute is authorized to admit international students to the Yearlong Certification Program under the F-1 student visa category. Successful completion of this exciting and rigorous course awards the title of Certified Movement Analyst (CMA).  

Format: half-day sessions, four days per week

Module I: Immersion
In Module I, you will become acquainted with the fundamental categories of the Laban system, explore your movement possibilities according to your own body uniqueness and begin perceiving the power of LMA as applied to your field of interest. Classes include theory and movement experientials and are accessible to students from all disciplines. This exciting and rigorous course serves as the first of four Modules within the LIMS® Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies, which awards the Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) title. 
This course has been approved by the American Dance Therapy Association as meeting the requirements for the Alternate Route R-DMT credential.
 

Format: full day sessions, intensive
Dates:  June 6 - June 22, 2016.

Pre-requisites: Intro to LMA, Intro to BF, Intro to A & K, written application and interview

Module II: Concentration
In Module II students will be immersed in Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) Theory, Bartenieff Fundamentals (BF), Movement Observation and Seminar in LMA history and application. This course consists of students who have successfully completed Module I of the Modular Certification program. Students will subsequently need to complete Module III and IV and a Final Certification Project before receiving the title Certified Movement Analyst (CMA).
Format: full day sessions, 16 day-intensive
Dates: January 4 - January 20, 2016.
Place: New York City
Time: M-F 9am-6pm, Saturdays & Sundays to be determined.
Pre-requisites: successful completion of Module I or with LIMS® preapproval.

Module III: Depth
Module III will continue the exploration of Space Harmony using the theories and principles at play in Transverse movement within the Icosahedron. Laban's A and B Scales will be studied in depth with focus on Phrasing and Shape Flow Support during Transverse movement.
Students will gain greater understanding of their own personal movement choices and further develop their skills in observing the functional and expressive movement of others.  Students will crystallize their understanding and integration of the over-arching LMA themes and the principles of Bartenieff Fundamentals. Students will gain greater facility with the verbal and Motif vocabularies used in Laban Movement Analysis in preparation for their Final Project proposals.

Module IV: Review and Project
This Module consists of students currently enrolled in the 2013-2015 Modular Certification program. Additionally, LIMS® is pleased to introduce a new way to resume LMA/BF studies and fulfill your CMA followed by completion of a Certification Project in June. Former students who began but did not complete their Final Certification Project, those persons having 20 or more years of documented teaching experience with the LMA/BF material but have not been enrolled in a LIMS® Certification Program, or have a minimum 400 documented hours of LMA/BF training with a CMA outside of a Certification Program may apply to Module IV.

LIMS® Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies - Modular Format at Lesley University, Boston

Lesley University and the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS®) come together on an exciting and rigorous program which awards the Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) credential upon completion. This Certification Program consists of 4 modules, each consisting of a 17-day, 120-hour intensive residency at Lesley University.

Module I: Immersion 

Because Module I is the equivalent of two Lesley University graduate courses (Body/Movement Observation and Assessment 1 and 2), students may choose to take these two courses for credit as Module I OR take Module I through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS®) in New York City. Module II: Concentration
In Module II, you will be immersed in LMA theory, Bartenieff fundamentals, movement observation and the history and application of LMA.

Module III: Depth
In Module III, you will gain greater understanding of your own personal movement choices and further develop your skills in observing the functional and expressive movement of others. You will gain greater facility with the verbal and Motif vocabularies used in LMA in preparation for your final project proposal.

Module IV: Review and Project
In Module IV, you will review the Laban work and being work on your final project, which will be presented within the year upon completion.

The Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies is being offered for the first time in Israel, as a collaboration between the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, LIMS and the Israeli Center for Integrative Group Counseling at the Wingate Institute in Netanya. Grounded in holistic experiences that deepen our inter-connectedness and consciousness, ICGroups is a center of discovery and a pioneer of somatic interpersonal transformative process.

LIMS® Certification Program in LMS - Modular Format- Koolskamp, Belgium

 
It is with great pleasure that we announce the CERTIFICATION PROGRAM IN LABAN MOVEMENT STUDIES, Modular Format to be held in AgapeBelgium in January 2016 in partnership with the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, LIMS® - New York. 

Originally AgapeBelgium was a therapy centre focused on somatic psychotherapies. It was created in 1986 and has grown into a therapy and training centre over the years. The centre is rural, located in West-Flanders, close to the beach and the beautiful city of Bruges. It is possible to stay at the centre during the program.

The LIMS Certification Program, Modular format involves the study of Laban Movement Analysis, Bartenieff Fundamentalssm, observation training, and a seminar in the history of the Laban System and its diverse application in many diverse fields. The course of study is spread over two years, and upon the successful conclusion of all of its stages and projects, the student receives from LIMS® the title of Certified Movement Analyst - CMA. 

Classes involve movement, theory, discussion, observation of self and others, field trips, video observation and documentation. Several projects are undertaken during the training, leading to a final project encompassing theory, observation, movement experiences and personal applications. The classes are small (minimum of 8, maximum of 14). All classes are always be guided by a CMA. 

It is possible to take Module 1 as a stand-alone course for those who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System. It is also possible to join module II, III, IV in Belgium, if you have completed the previous modules at other locations

LIMS® NY is collaborating with Moving Forth to bring this unique and vital learning experience to the UK

Susan Scarth, Dance Movement Therapist (RDMP), CMA and Director of Moving 
Forth (a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), is pleased to be offering the 
Certification Program in Laban Movement Studies in Scotland.
 
Moving Forth has been collaborating with LIMS® New York to bring this excellent program to the UK , with the coordination of  Karen Studd, CMA and accredited LIMS tutor. 

Moving Forth - a Scottish Charitable Organisation SCO44412 - offers their 2nd Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies (LBMS) Certificate Programme from June 16th - July 2nd 2015

This intensive course covers the theory and practice of the study of human movement. Students will develop practical skills in observation and analysis of movement through an experiential learning and teaching model. Movement observation and analysis training is relevant to therapists (inc. OT, AsTs, PT, MT, SLT), educators, somatics/movement practitioners and arts professionals. This course offers a rich opportunity for personal and professional development.

Module 1 can be taken as a stand-alone course for those keen to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System.

For those interested in pursuing the path towards qualifying as a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) the Modular 1 - 4 programme runs every six months with Module 4 being split into 2 half modules

LIMS® Program in China is a graduate-level Professional Training Program, accredited by the National Association of School of Dance (NASD), which is recognized by the United States Department of Education. Upon successful graduation with 100 post-certificate hours, CMAs can apply to the International Somatic Movement Educators and Therapist Association (ISMETA) for professional registration as a Registered Somatic Movement Educator/Therapist.
